How were Castles Designed?

Castles were designed to last. They were made with slit windows that made for smaller targets, but also allowed archerers to shoot out of them. A drawbridge is lowered over a moat that surrounds the castle. The moat is usually filled with water, or sharpened stakes. Pinnacles are stratigicly placed on top of the castle walls so archers could shoot people in the moat.
